now announcing our new digital subscription options and open call reminders
Hi all! Apologies in advance for any typos throughout this one as I type a quick update for this month and August's update e-mail will prob be skipped so it’s a tad longer.
Cafeyn Subscriptions
I’m excited to announce that Dipity Literary Magazine will be officially available on the Cafeyn reading platform this year! Cafeyn provides “subscription access to over 1,000 magazines, and newspapers from around the world.” You can sign up if you’d like for Cafeyn and purchase even other magazines out there. So to clarify there’s a subscription price for you to sign up if you’d like and they have a one-month free trial option and after that, the cover prices apply.
DO NOTE our catalog icon logo access section which I’ll share later further below an example is not up fully LIVE quite yet on the mobile app side. Our digital access cover price is 10.99. I am looking into and meeting with a few other places to add Dipity Lit Mag to still. You can see a little preview of them in their “see catalog” via web search keyword dipity > click the issue > look on the right and scroll to see previous issues too before checking out their mobile app via Apple or Google Play store.
Mobile App Preview
Cafeyn is based in Europe—Paris, France so they have the following region options (choose the closest main country or preferred language). You can SSO via Google, an Apple Account or create a login. Despite the main country options, I am not aware of location restrictions per their Help Center and I’m still fairly new to it myself but if you’ve used mobile magazine reader apps before you should be used to it ya. There is a free one-month trial after that it’s £7.99 excluding each magazine's cover catalog price purchases.
I’m based in the U.S. for example so here is what it looks like when I choose e.g. Canada (EN) to show you what it looks like a bit. Most of our readers and listeners are based in the UK, Canada, Australia, and the U.S.
You can easily swipe through the pages on your mobile. Again DO NOTE our catalog icon logo access section is not up fully LIVE quite yet on the mobile app side but it would look similar to this surfing mag I’m a fan of as an example so hold off a bit—I believe it should be fully up 1-4 on the mobile sometime this month shortly with our logo (right now I see just no. 4 on the mobile app). I like surfing movies btw guys lol so that’s why I’m using the Surf Session magazine as an example. Anyways, it looks definitely awesome ya!
If you prefer print issues, no worries we’re totally still doing those! Also, yes I spent the past month or so combing through each issue the best I could and rescaling things to offer two versions through our website when we can’t put them on economy paper through our other print provider. Here’s what the new second option looks like through our website U.S. print store ordering button:
Essentially, it’s the same except I added a NEW spine text design, new copyright end page, and the paper is a tad heavier than the versions in online bookstores except for no. 4. The other version in online bookstores that I re-uploaded for distribution is for the most part on economy lighter paper and those now have spine text too (read the upload date carefully) as some older discounted variations without the spine text haven’t been pulled down yet. I would recommend comparing shipping between our site links and the ones in online bookstores especially if you’re in the U.S.
Issue no. 4 pictured above may be slightly cheaper to purchase through our website instead if you’re based in the U.S. Our average issue is quite hefty at 180 pages in full color hence, I’ve been striving to implement digital subscription options. The paper interior isn’t super glossy but rather on the smoother side, but overall turned out awesome! I’ll go back and add ISSNs if approved to the other U.S. print store version later in the year. Eventually, that version pictured above should be available for international shipping in the distant future otherwise you can grab the other version out on Amazon or other online bookstores that do ship internationally.

Chapbook Release Status
We are definitely a bit shorthanded and behind schedule right now so our goal is to get issue no. 5 out before the end of the year. Technically we should release 2-3+ issues each year but I took some time to set up the structure for chapbook subs and we're undergoing more volunteer staffing changes. I will be opening up a call for new volunteers probably sometime this year possibly 1-2 volunteer readers with cross-over roles TBA. If you’re interested in volunteering in your downtime feel free to reach out in advance via the contact form on our staff page at the bottom (no guarantees we’ll respond to all but I do appreciate anyone who takes the time to do so or expresses interest). I’ll be less active posting and mostly sharing in IG stories when possible.
We should have a few more chapbooks slated for release before issue no. 5 and after it too! If you haven’t yet def order a copy of Reasons to… Evolve by Emma Louise Wells which was our very first poetry chapbook at Dipity Press! You can order it in a few different formats (see our website’s Chappies section).
Our next upcoming chapbook has a few pieces of art in the interior too and we’ll be looking into allowing photography in chapbook subs! I’m not sure if we’ll do all 4 ordering options unless others like having all of those. We may start PWYW PDF chapbook downloads or an additional digital microchapbook series for Dipity Press too TBA pretty soon.
Podcast Status
We haven’t announced the 2024 Symphonic Challenge (music inspo challenge) winner yet on the Hummingbird Blink: Nectar Poetry podcast but will soon sometime this year as quite a few artists have been on summer tours and events so we extended our music interview section too — if you haven’t yet read those Symphonic finalists on our website section via Online Tank label — another round will be open soonish. We also should have another new poetry podcast episode either before or after that one announcement TBD. Remember you can submit audio or video to us and we do accept previously published poetry for our podcast episodes only and community bonus shares section. We’re typically always looking for podcast subs and were on a break so check deadlines (but they are usually extended as needed).
P.S. We may have poets with publications through Dipity Press share their poetry on our Hummingbird Blink podcast via video or audio in the near future too or out on our new YouTube channel. A new spoken word visual written word video will appear on our channel of Anam Cara (ft. Eartha Davis) soon too!
Issue no. 5 Submissions
We’ve been seeing really cool cat poetry-themed submissions thus far and it’s so tough to decline any! Please ensure you’re submitting to the correct bucket (we have had an uptick in sub errors) and also do note our Substack spotlight submissions do not have to be cat-themed but could if you’re up for a challenge.
Comic Art & Photography Donations
Also, I recently opened up a new photography and comic art donation bucket — feel free to check out the guidelines if you’d like to donate any photos (do note it doesn’t have to be a cat photo for donations as I incorporate buildings, nature, graffiti, architecture, and statue snaps into each issue in the backgrounds for example. We also now accept comic artwork but it should fit our current theme.
Book Recs Section
We do not currently charge in 2024 for advertising in Dipity Lit Mag or being part of our community book recs section for now, so we have room in it still. If you are a poet in the community who has had a recent poetry book/collection release in the past 1-2 years you can reach out to me via the Staff section and scroll down to our contact form (bonus points and preference will be given to poets who have cat-themed poetry) or feline notes in a recent publication but is not by any means required. Do note I may be changing the layout structure of the book recs section a tad into more of a grid. We probably will begin a new non-free book recs like fellow lit mags or a more focused ad section after issue 5 of more poetry books. I am also creating a slightly different layout for our music and spoken word section.
Fun Stuff: Music Playlists
I’m sure if you follow us on Instagram—you must know I love all kinds of music haha! So of course we now have a brand new fun playlist account out on Spotify under the profile: dipitylitmag. There’s an international cruel summer playlist, rock and roll, film photography/polaroid, and a few other fun-themed ones! I haven’t added all supporting artists and bands of Dipity Lit Mag + Dipity Press to these playlists yet nor adjusted the ordering on all but will soon. So while you’re waiting give it a listen for fun! If you don’t use Spotify, no worries I’ll be branching this out elsewhere soon to share more awesome music. I’m still fine-tuning the order on some too.
Dipity Desk
Remember you can ask me anything directly in the writing or art realm, even technical support, design inquiry help, or get my advice on a project through the PWYW Help Desk center. A couple of poets have DM’d me questions or used our Discord channel, but I made a new Dipity Desk Discord channel. I’m working on making a few PWYW tip guides and How-To docs after issue no. 5.
Upcoming Events & OPEN Calls
Dipity Lit Mag will be partaking in the regular upcoming nomination events in the near future! So stay tuned for those exciting shares.
We have extended the deadline for issue no. 5 into August 17th or may further as needed. There are 10 poem slots left for the beginning section of the issue.
Our book recs section has at least 2-3+ spots in it open.
We are looking for more spoken word audio and submissions. Please read the structure guidelines carefully.
Interviews are open for musicians, bands, and writers (poem or short story + fun Q&As) for most of the remaining year.
I’m hoping to start up a new intake format for poetry book and manuscript reviews after our next upcoming issue and chapbook releases (but it may not be until the end of the year or early next).
Our chapbook window along with poetry feedback from me should open back up sometime after issue no. 5’s completion.
